The Puzzle

Advocate:
1. One who defends or maintains a cause or proposal

2. One who supports or promotes the interests of a cause or group

Activist: One who advocates or practices activism, a person who uses or supports strong actions (such as public protests) in support of, or opposition to one side of a controversial issue.

Advocacy takes on many forms. There is no one way to speak up or show support. All are necessary and needed. Too much of the time people feel they aren’t doing enough. If we compare ourselves to others we set ourselves up for disappointment.

Every piece of a puzzle is necessary and needed for the desired outcome, to complete the project, the mission. One piece depends on another in order to come together.
Whether the puzzle has 25 pieces or 1000 they are all important and required.

Animal advocacy is like the puzzle. There is a common goal and the pieces, the people, the groups, need to work together, finding the best fit for success.
I don’t know why the ego and subsequent infighting exists within the world of animal advocacy, and I have to believe this is why so many goals are never met. It is not about who does what, or who gets that bill passed etc. It’s not about which side of the government you align with.
It’s about the animals. It’s about the common goal of respect and protection
